FAQ
Do you provide therapy in person?
I am currently only providing therapy via Telehealth (HIPAA compliant video chat). I provide therapy services and am licensed in Washington State and Michigan.
How long does therapy take?
Everyone is different and has different needs and therefore, the length of therapy varies for each person. My goal is that you are feeling better, feeling supported and when you are ready, reducing, ending or pausing therapy, knowing that I am here for you if you ever need to return.
What if I want to change to a different therapist? Is that OK?
The therapeutic relationship is an important part of the healing journey. It is normal to sometimes try different therapists until you find the right fit for you. You may also find that a therapist that helped you at one point in your life, may not be the same person you need for your next step. If you/we find that that we are no longer a good fit, that is OK. I am always very happy to help you find someone who is the right fit for you. And, if you ever feel that you’d like to come back someday, that is normal and OK too.
Since you offer Telehealth, can you be my therapist if I live outside of Washington or Michigan?
Per my licenses and by law, I am only allowed to provide psychotherapy for those located in Washington State or Michigan at the time of our appointment.
Do I need to be an artist or creative person to see you since you are an artist?
First, I do believe that everyone has an element of creativity in them. That said, you do not need to see yourself as a creative person nor be an artist to work with me. Although, please know that my approach comes from an artistic and creative perspective. Many of my clients are creative people as well as those seeking more creativity in their lives.
What is Hypnosis like?
Many of my clients express that hypnosis feels like they are shutting off their thinking mind and tapping into their subconscious or inner voice. It can also feel like when you are driving and time has passed but you weren’t paying attention to the drive and were deep in trance. During our sessions we will be in discussion while you are under hypnosis. You will be able to tap into your subconscious mind, discover answers and find deep healing. You are in control at all times and will remember what we discussed.
Will Hypnosis work for me? I’m not sure I can be hypnotized.
If I were to ask you to close your eyes and imagine (for example) your front porch or a particular place and describe it to me, and you are able to do so, that is often a good sign that you will be able to participate in hypnosis. The ability to “imagine and describe” is helpful during a session as I will be guiding you in a certain direction and you will respond with what you are experiencing. Don’t worry, there are no gold medals for doing it perfectly and there are many levels of how deep you choose to go. For some, it is a deeper relaxation where answers and healing come freely from their subconscious. For others, it is a very deep experience into an imagined world. It is up to you how deep you decide to go and all levels are good and helpful. I am here to guide you in a safe and peaceful way through your experience and have successfully worked with many first time hypnotherapy patients. Can I only see you for Hypnosis?
I practice and am certified in Hypnotherapy. Therefore the process involves therapy and not hypnosis as a stand alone service. From experience, I also know that my clients have the best outcomes in hypnosis when we engage in the full therapeutic process.
If I work with you, do I have to do hypnosis or Lifespan Integration?
No, it is not a requirement. These are just therapeutic options and specialties that I offer. I will make a recommendation to you for either of these therapies if I feel that they would benefit your specific needs in therapy, but you are always able to choose whether to try them or not.
What is Lifespan Integration (LI)?
Lifespan Integration (LI) is a therapy that relies on the innate ability of the body and mind to heal itself from past and recent traumas. LI uses memory recall and imagery to gently help people in treatment access memories in order to resolve repressed trauma and promote healing. Past traumas are often processed rapidly. Many of my clients describe that after LI therapy, previous traumatic memories no longer generate a negative mind-body response but simply are thoughts that pass by more gently and without previous triggers. Outcomes vary depending upon number of sessions and depth of processing.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellations. You are responsible for paying for your session in full if a cancellation request is received less than 24 hours in advance.
Can I see you if I am also a therapist?
Absolutely! Many of my clients are also therapists. And as most therapist know, it’s a great idea to have support and take good care of yourself while helping others.
If I am a therapy client, can I still buy your artwork or take your art classes?
In order to hold healthy boundaries, I do not sell artwork to my therapy clients. I require that at least one year passes after ending therapy before art can be purchased. Therapy clients are welcome to partake in art classes but we will not disclose that professional relationship to other class participants. Many of my art classes have a therapeutic aspect to them.
